I was driving through some beautiful green and yellow hills today when I heard this song come on KCRW.  I didn’t recognize M. Ward without his counterpart,  Zooey Deschanel (the other half of She & Him).

I love the full, folk sound of this song.  I love the old-time feel of the backup vocals.  I also love the subtle organ, which helps to sustain the full sound of the chords.

My favorite thing about this song, though, are the different variations of the chorus.

I particularly love these:

And it’s joy, honey, pure joy/ Pure joy just to see you again

And it’s joy, honey, pure joy/ To feel the strength of your kiss against my lips.

It’s a sweet song, and I’m looking forward to checking out the whole album.
