I first heard about Nive through Filter Magazine’s Culture Collide Festival.  She and her band are from Greenland, and she is of the Inuit people.  Or as she put it “I’m a real live Eskimo!”

I saw Nive at the Scandinavia House in Manhattan, and was taken captive by this song.  It has a sort of  “Zombie” aspect (the Cranberries), but the thing that I love most about this song is how simply the lyrics are put.  I think when you write in English and it’s not your native language, it makes the English more pure…less cryptic.  You feel her emotions resonating with the lyrics, because she’s not trying to hide behind complicated metaphors, she’s just singing it like it is.
