The opening line of this song is my absolute favorite part:  “Come as you are, sweetheart, come as you are – you know you’ve got nothing to prove.”

To me, this song sounds like the best boyfriend in the world taking care of the woman he loves.   She is burning too bright, living too fast – he says “you’re a tragedy starting to happen”…

I love the beautiful counter melody that the cello has throughout.   It, along with the piano, gives the song a rolling, circular movement that moves the song forward.
